Sierra "Simago" Gonzalez is a Puerto Rican Cuban artist — Chicago born, California raised, first-generation American. She's a musician, playwright, sound healer, educator, poet, and the person who coined the term "healer-hop": the fusion of spiritual jazz and hip hop, grounded in healing frequencies.
She grew up in the arts — her father was an artist. Her own path started in film, dance, and poetry, moved through theater, then guitar and piano, then rap lyricism and digital production, and eventually arrived at sound healing and ensemble composition. Everything she's made has led to the next thing.
As The Healer Emcee, Simago composes and performs with crystal singing bowls, gongs, chimes, and tuning forks alongside her voice and production. Her words stay rooted in sacral wisdom, storytelling, and spiritual practice. Through her organization Soul Speaks, she produces collaborative sound healing gatherings and Sound Bath Symphony events in the Bay Area. Her hip-hop work includes collaborations with Homeboy Sandman through Royalty Summit and Oakstop Alliance, and features on Psyched Radio and Portland Radio Project.
Her live shows are built like theater — structured, staged, unfolding as intentional journeys. That's not a metaphor. She also directs and teaches theater at American Conservatory Theater, where she's created seven original works with students from under-resourced San Francisco schools. Her play The Resilience Crew — developed through SFBATCO's Creators Lab — features rapping and original music and centers young artists as its primary characters.
She is bilingual in English and Spanish. She holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of the Pacific.
A new full-length album is coming Fall 2026: small ensemble, modal and improvisational, spiritual jazz and live hip hop, healing frequencies — with a theatrically staged release concert in Alameda County.
